Drive traffic ??” by blogging and submitting to article directories
Blogs are so common nowadays that if you are not using one in your business, you are missing out. Here are some blogging tips for you:
1. Talk to your readers
2. Respond to your readers
3. Be honest
What do I mean by talking to your readers? Write as if you are talking to them, of course. That is one way to get their attention. Also, you cannot get anyone’s attention if you are writing generically. You need to write in the way that they understand. That is even more important than stating a bunch of facts, which can be so dry. What people like is when others understand them. You understand them through your writing. They feel as if they know you through your writing.
The idealistic situation would be if you also fall into the same target market. Rightfully, you should be in a business that interests you personally. Therefore, you would be blogging about the same. In such a situation, you have probably been in the shoes of your customers. That is why you write like you understand them, because you really do!
What is the use of a blog if you are not responsive to your readers? Might as well have a regular website then. The whole idea of a blog is to generate a loyal following, which is why you need to be responsive. The comments feature is a regular in the blog and if yours is active enough, you should have readers responding to you. In which case, you need to read them and respond to them. Your readers will appreciate the attention that flows both ways.
Be honest in your writing too. After all, you are not the only one and your readers certainly have no problem finding others in the same field, making it easy for comparison. Not being honest can cost you your credibility which translates to lost customers.
The same tips apply for copywriting tips, if you are a copywriter, except that you probably respond to your readers in a different way, unless you are also running a blog. In fact, as long as you are looking for writing tips, those three items listed above apply.
But how do you drive traffic to your blogs? By writing articles for submission to article directories. Most people advise that you be consistent in this effort, say a few articles every week. It is really up to you, but know that it takes a lot of articles to generate any kind of reasonable traffic to your blogs. At least in the hundreds if not thousands. So maybe the gurus are right after all. If you consistently submit a few articles every week you will soon reach up to that amount, and as you can see, how soon really depends on you.
There may be plenty of article directories out there but really, you need only submit to a few that is the most popular, probably no more than three. You will be wasting your time if you submit to as many article directories as you can find. Besides, Google does not appreciate duplicative work; in this case, duplicate articles.
Some article directories require that you pay a fee but not most. If you are required to pay, it is up to you to ensure that it is worth it. Besides, there is a combination of factors of what makes a product sellable. Paying for submission does not automatically guarantee that, if your product is not already selling because of other factors.
Don’t abuse these directories either. They do have their place and therefore, function to fulfill. However, if you abuse these directories, it is likely that your credibility will suffer as well. For instance, you may be submitting a lot of articles with the same content over and over, or worse, submitting articles with no real content. Readers who depend on these directories for information may start to turn to other more reliable sources to fulfill their needs then. That proves that what goes around, comes around, but it isn’t so nice on the receiving end, is it?
What I am saying is that while you need these directories to generate traffic, do so appropriately and don’t rely only on this method for traffic. There are other ways to circulate your content, such as by distributing a free e-book. Again, respect your audience and give them good information.
